Abbeyford is a 4 bedded Residential Short Break Service.
The Service provides planned short breaks for children and young people with complex health and physical needs and also to children and young people with severe learning and social communication difficulties.
Short Break stays are offered weekdays, at the weekend and during school holidays.
In the past 12 months Abbeyford has had major refurbishment including a sensory suite and upgrading to the IT facilities, so we are truly wired. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and three of the four bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Bathroom facilities have been suitably adapted to address the needs of any child using the facility.
The staff team at Abbeyford are highly skilled and have a wealth of experience supporting and meeting the needs of children and young people with severe learning and physical disabilities.
We try to ensure that when young people stay at Abbeyford that it is an opportunity to make friends, to have fun, to have new experiences and to develop new skills.
For parents who are approved for Short Breaks at Abbeyford we want to ensure that breaks offer a real opportunity to recharge your batteries and offer the best support to your family too.
We seek to tailor the pattern of stays to what you need and try to ensure that we can support by meeting requests for special family events. We generally seek to offer a couple of days break at regular intervals as we find for most parents and families that this offers the best type of support. Young people staying equally tell us that this suits them better too.
