One of the most common eye problems in the UK and a major cause of sight loss. Glaucoma can be prevented by early detection and treatment.
When someone has glaucoma, their vision may become patchy or they may lose the sight from the sides of their eyes leading to what is known as tunnel vision. Glaucoma is caused by an increase in the pressure of the fluid inside the eye, damaging the optic nerve.
This is a model of action and intervention in schools and early education settings to help children who have special educational needs. The approach recognises that there is a continuum of special educational needs and that, where necessary, increasing specialist expertise should be brought to bear the difficulties that a child may be experiencing.
