The Children's Disability Service Purpose
The Core Purpose of The Children's Disability Service is to provide one seamless integrated service supporting children and young people and their families in St Helens. This core purpose will enable us to:
- assess and monitor that the special needs and disabilities of children and young people are met
- provide statutory special educational needs and disability support including teacher and technical support to children, families and schools
- commission and promote positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability)
The Service has produced a Statement of Purpose and Function which sets out eligibility, service standards, service arrangements and service objectives. This document is reviewed on a 6 monthly basis.
The Children's Disability Service operates within the key values of the Council and Children's Services. 'What we are about' sets out the key values of the staff operating within the Service in line with key Council policies. The intent of the Service will be to review this document annually with key partners.
